Sign in to the same account on iPhone or iPad. Scan the add-device code on your Mac, or paste the code instead.
Choose a Mac from the console and open a terminal, app window or full desktop. Repeat the setup to add another Mac.

Account authorization, device pairing and system permissions protect your workspace, from setup to remote input.
Your account and device pairing establish access. Manage devices and revoke their authorization when needed.
Video, keyboard and pointer input, and terminal data travel over encrypted connections. Relay nodes forward ciphertext.
Devices try a direct connection, with a relay when the network requires it. No servers for you to set up.
Screen Recording enables remote video; Accessibility enables input control. You grant these permissions on your Mac.
Encrypting remote content does not mean the service processes no data. Accounts, device authorization, subscription entitlements and relay usage require corresponding service data.

The Mac app requires macOS 26 or later. The controller supports iPhone and iPad on iOS / iPadOS 16 or later. Speech recognition and Picture in Picture also depend on device, language and system support.
Yes. Manage multiple Macs under your account from one console, with separate connection status and settings for each device. Device allowances depend on your account entitlements.
Yes. Your Mac needs to stay awake, online and running Nearshell. Sleep, shutdown or a lost network connection can prevent access.
Not for Native shell. Install the corresponding program on your Mac only if you want to access tmux or Herdr sessions.
