Overview
What Nearshell is, who it's for, and how it differs from other remote desktops.
Nearshell is an Apple-native remote workspace for development. Manage multiple Macs from iPhone and iPad, with native terminals, app windows and full desktops in one console.
What you can do
- Device console: view connection status, desktop previews, terminals and running apps, with separate preferences for each Mac.
- Terminal workspace: use Native shell or access tmux and Herdr sessions installed on your Mac. Supports IME input, selection, copying, scrollback, themes and fonts.
- Desktop and windows: open a full desktop or app window with touch, keyboard and pointer controls.
- Voice drafts: type or dictate, edit, then send text to your Mac. Sending does not add Return.
- Picture in Picture: enable it separately for remote views and terminals to keep watching from the Home Screen on supported devices.
- Multiple controllers: connect authorized controllers to the same Mac, with terminal input ownership coordinated by the runtime.

Speech recognition and Picture in Picture also depend on device, language and system support. Your Mac needs to stay awake, online and running Nearshell.
